The Training and Education Command Staff Judge Advocate serves as the Command's primary legal advisor and is a special staff officer who reports directly to the Commanding General, Training and Education Command and to the Commanding General, Marine Corps Combat Development Command. The function of the Staff Judge Advocate is to furnish legal advice to the Commanding Generals, subordinate commanders, and the Headquarters Staff. This entails critical analysis and advice relating to the following areas: Military Justice, Operational Law, Fiscal Law, Government Ethics, Investigations, Claims, Domestic Operational Law, Equal Opportunity, and other matters as directed.  Also to provide liaison with subordinate Command Staff Judge Advocates, the Education Command Staff Judge Advocate, the Marine Corps Base Quantico Law Center, and Headquarters Marine Corps Judge Advocate’s Division as required.  The Staff Judge Advocate communicates the command’s legal policy and standards and exercises staff cognizance over all legal issues within the command.
