Colonel Jeffrey T. Conner

Colonel Conner was commissioned in August 1987 through the Naval ROTC program following graduation from the University of Pennsylvania.  As a Lieutenant, he served with Third Battalion, Eighth Marines as a Platoon Commander from 1988 to 1991.  As a Captain, he served in the S-3 and as Headquarters Company Commander with Marine Corps Security Force Battalion in Norfolk, Virginia from 1991 to 1994; as a Battalion Advisor with the Royal Saudi Marine Forces in Jubail, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from 1994 to 1995; and as S-3A, Weapons Company Commander and Battalion S-3 with Second Battalion, Eighth Marines from 1996 to 1999.

As a Field Grade Officer, Colonel Conner served as a planner with U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Europe in Stuttgart, Germany from 2001 to 2004 and as the Plans Officer, Second Marine Division from 2004 to 2006, to include the Division’s deployment to Operation Iraqi Freedom 04-06.  Colonel Conner commanded First Battalion, First Marines from 2006 to 2008 and deployed with the battalion to Operation Iraq Freedom from July 2007 to February 2008.  As a Colonel, he served as the Division Chief, Joint Operations Division, Central Command within the J-3, Joint Staff from 2009 to 2011.  Following that tour, Colonel Conner returned to the First Marine Division and served as the G-3 during the deployment of First Marine Division (Forward) to Operation Enduring Freedom 12 in Helmand Province, Afghanistan.

Colonel Conner’s Professional Military Education includes The Basic School, Infantry Officer Course, U.S. Army Infantry Officer Advanced Course, Command and Staff College, School of Advanced Warfighting, and the National War College.
