MVOC Course Information

Purpose:
To train basic Motor Transport Marines to operate tactical vehicles from 1 1/4 ton to 22 1/2-ton.

Scope:
This course imparts the technical knowledge and develops the functional skills that will enable the graduate to operate tactical motor vehicles up to 22 1/2 ton capacity, perform 1st echelon Preventive Maintenance, Checks, and Services, (PMCS) complete operational forms and records, and locate specific information in technical manuals.  The course also includes a driver testing and licensing process that results in the issuance of a U.S. government motor vehicle operators identification card (OF 346) authorizing the operation of vehicles up to 22 1/2-ton LVSR.

Prerequisites:
Must have a valid state drivers license that is not suspended or revoked, pass normal vision to include acuity, color and field of vision and depth perception test. Pass audiogram hearing test.

Class Capacity:
The minimum class capacity is 40.  The maximum capacity is 61.

Special Instructions:
By order of the CG, Ft. Leonard Wood, POVs are not authorized for Lance Corporal and below. Reservists will report with a complete uniform allowance (includes SMCR’s and incremental IADT personnel). Government messing and billeting are available. No dependents or POVs authorized at this temporary duty station.

SROC Course Information

Purpose
The purpose of this course is to train qualified Marines (MOS 3531) to operate and maintain the MK series tactical tractor and the MK970 Semi-trailer refueler.

Scope
This course imparts the technical knowledge and develops the functional skills that will enable the graduate to operate the MK-31 tactical tractor and MK970 semi-trailer refueler.  The course will include instruction on identification of system components, Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services, trouble shooting, and operating procedures applicable to the semi-trailer refueler. The course also includes instruction on characteristics of fuels, fuel sampling, and fueling and defueling of ground equipment and fixed and rotary wing aircraft. 

Prerequisites
PFC through Sergeant, must be qualified in the MOS 3531. Must possess a valid physical examination for motor vehicle operations (OPNAV 8020/6 medical card) and possess a U.S. Government Vehicle Operator’s Identification card OF-346 with a hazardous materials fuel endorsement. Student attending the course are required to complete the command's screening checklist with a copy of original orders attached. Students who fail to meet course perquisites will be subject to dis-enrollment from the course.

Special Instructions
Students attending this course are required to have either a government VISA card or 80% advance per diem prior to reporting.  Students will not be able to receive cash advances through the Fort Leonard Wood dispersing.  Billeting may or may not be available. Messing is available at the dining facilities on Ft. Leonard Wood for all students attending courses.
NOTE:  IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THAT EACH MARINE BE ISSUED A GOVERNMENT CREDIT CARD PRIOR TO DEPARTING THEIR PARENT COMMANDS.

VRC Information

Purpose
The purpose of this course is to train qualified Marines (MOS 35xx) to employ components integral to the AMK36 wrecker and the MKR 15 Logistics Vehicle System Replacement Wrecker.

Scope
This course imparts the technical knowledge and develops the functional skills that will enable the graduate to effectively function as a Vehicle Recovery Operator. Instruction is concentrated towards vehicle recovery and towing procedures, oxyacetylene cutting, crane operations, wrecker inventory procedures and 1st echelon Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services that are vehicle specific.

Prerequisites
Private through Staff Sergeant, meet the prerequisites of MCO 11240.66_ and TM 11240.15/3_.   Must be qualified in the MOS 352X, 353X.  MOS 35XX must hold a valid U.S. Government Vehicle Operator’s Identification card OF-346 to operate 15 ton vehicles. Must possess a valid physical examination for motor vehicle operators (OPNAV 8020/6 ) medical card. Students attending the course are required to complete the command screening checklist with a copy of original orders attached.  Students who fail to meet course perquisites will be subject to dis-enrollment from the course.
