School of Infantry-East

Camp Geiger, NC
Equal Opportunity

The Marines, Sailors, Civilian Marines, and Family Members of the School of Infantry reflect the diverse composition of America. Our organization is made up of personnel from both genders, all races, colors, religions, ages, and national origins. My position on equal opportunity is clear: discrimination or sexual harassment is wrong and illegal. People are to be judged solely by their performance and abilities, nothing else. All individuals are to be treated with fairness, dignity and respect. No rite-of-passage rituals, hazing, discrimination, or sexual harassment will be tolerated within the School of Infantry.

Discrimination is defined as an act, policy or procedure that arbitrarily denies equal opportunity because of race, religion, gender, age or national origin to an individual or group of individuals. Sexual harassment is defined as a form of discrimination that involves unwelcome sexual advances, request for sexual favors and other verbal or physical contact of a sexual nature to include creating a hostile work environment when submission to such conduct is made either explicitly or implicitly a term or condition of a person's job, payor career. Hazing is defined as conduct where one military member, regardless of service or rank, causes another military member, regardless of service or rank, to suffer or be exposed to an activity which is cruel, abusive, humiliating or oppressive.

We will swiftly and effectively deal with any violations of this policy. Anyone who practices, condones, tolerates, or falsely reports such violations will be subject to administrative and disciplinary action. All hands have the responsibility to report incidents of discrimination, sexual harassment or hazing without fear of reprisal. Incidents will be investigated quickly and thoroughly. All individuals have the right to Request Mast with any Commanding Officer in their chain of command up to the Commanding General to resolve violations of this policy. The azimuth we will follow within the School of Infantry is straightforward: treat others as we would like to be treated - with fairness, dignity and respect. I expect all members of the School of Infantry to embrace these statements and to do their part in order to build a climate where people grow, prosper, and serve proudly as a team committed to fair and equal treatment.
