Sergeant Justin Brown is assigned to the Aerial Delivery School House, Company A, Marine Corps Detachment Fort Lee. He was selected as the 3rd Quarter Fiscal Year 2014 Instructor of the Quarter (IOQ) for Company A, Marine Corps Detachment Fort Lee, Virginia.
The purpose of the IOQ program is to recognize instructors who have excelled in demonstrating outstanding abilities in the use of the principles and techniques of military instruction in the performance of their instructional and academic duties.
“Upon being duly evaluated, it was determined that Sgt. Brown has best exemplified the exceptional teaching skills and professionalism over the 3rd Quarter,” said Calvin Harris, an academics officer with Company A, Marine Corps Detachment Fort Lee.
Sergeant Brown scored 565 out of 600 possible points on his evaluation. He will also compete for the Marine Corps Detachment Fort Lee Fiscal Year 2014 Instructor of the Year.
“It is clear that he exceeds the expectations all instructors are held to during their performance of duty,” said 1st Sgt. Wesley Hunt, the company first sergeant for Company A. "He demonstrated excellent communication skills and is extremely knowledgeable in his field of expertise. He has a great rapport with his students and is very passionate about training Marines."
His command is also looking forward to the future.
“Sgt. Brown has shown great potential to be the Instructor of the Year,” said Capt. Brian Geisen, Company Commander for Company A. "I am proud of his work thus far and look forward to seeing how he does in the board at the end of this fiscal year."
