Recruit Brian Shumacher, Platoon 2147, Company G, looks behind him as he wall rappels down the final feet Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego's 60-foot rappel tower, March 26. The recruits learned both wall rappel and fast roping. Although this may be the last time the recruits ever rappel, the exercise can be useful in combat military occupational specialties. Sgt.
