A Company D recruit provides first aid for a fellow recruit after a simulated improvised explosive device goes off Feb. 22, during the Crucible at Weapons and Field Training Battalion, Camp Pendleton, Calif. When detonated, a simulated IED releases a cloud of white powder that marks recruits near it, simulating combat casualties.
