MARINE CORPS BASE QUANTICO, VA. -- Marine Corps Training and Education Command will transition its authorities from a two-star command to a three-star command during a change of command ceremony at Marine Corps Base Quantico on Aug 3, 2020.
Maj. Gen. William F. Mullen will relinquish command to Lt. Gen. Lewis A. Craparotta during the historic change of command that elevates TECOM from a subordinate command of Marine Corps Combat Development Command, to a three-star command that reports directly to the Commandant of the Marine Corps.
As part of the 38th Commandant’s Planning Guidance and Force Design efforts, Headquarters Marine Corps Bulletin 5400, dated 1 June 2020, directed the elevation of TECOM to a three-star command. This transition will give TECOM equal status within the Commandant’s Title 10 pillar responsibilities to organize, train, and equip the Marine Corps with roles and authorities equal to Marine Forces Commanders and Deputy Commandants.
This transition will also better enable CG TECOM to provide a 21st Century Learning outcomes-based information age model, adaptive to the needs of the individual Marine or Unit and the demands of the future operating environment. 21st Century Learning is a continuum of dynamic, cognitive training and education experiences centered on the learner to continuously hone an intellectual edge that will enable our Marines to rapidly adapt, and achieve a decisive advantage in any domain through intelligent initiative.
The Change of Command will be livestreamed via DVIDSHUB.net at 10 a.m., Aug 3rd. For media queries, please contact Capt Sam Stephenson: Samuel.stephenson@usmc.mil.
