8-Apr-11 -- April 8th 2011 marked a first for Marine Corps Detachment, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri when 24 motivated Marines graduated from the Fort Leonard Wood Instructor Academy, Class 01-11. The idea stemmed from a mission analysis conducted by a group of Marines in August 2010. The group recognized that the center of gravity for our detachment is our instructors. The premise was to design a course that would arm instructors with the tools to be highly successful in this academic setting.
Students underwent a rigorous week-long training session oriented towards master lesson file maintenance, academic orders, physical training, and leadership courses - all specific to this detachment. They also successfully delivered a 30 minute and a 50 minute graded presentation to their Faculty Advisor. A Working Group was established to develop and deliver this pilot course and group members also served as the Instructional Staff.
This is the culmination of a three week pilot course that included a one week Basic Instructor Course and a one week Senior Instructor Course. A special thanks to the team that developed and delivered the instruction: GySgt Rodriguez, GySgt Figueroa, Sgt Shore, Sgt Rose, Mr. Ralph Cook, Mr. Tommy Bibb, and Mr. Daryl Reeves. Congratulations to Class 01-11!
