Sergeant Major Anthony J. Easton

Sergeant Major (SgtMaj) Anthony J. Easton, a Minnesota native enlisted in the Marine Corps in July 1994.  He reported to recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, CA, and after graduating recruit training, SgtMaj Easton attended Marine Combat Training (MCT) at Camp Pendleton, CA.  Upon completing MCT, SgtMaj Easton reported to Marine Corps Engineer School at Camp Lejeune, NC.  SgtMaj Easton graduated with the military occupation specialty 1371 and in January 1995 reported to 2d Combat Engineer Battalion, Camp Lejeune, NC. 

In June 1995, as a basic Engineer SgtMaj Easton deployed with Charlie Company, 2nd Platoon to Cuba and participated in Operation Sea Signal.  When he returned in October, SgtMaj Easton conducted preparatory training in order to deploy with the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) in 1996 as a fire team leader.  While deployed, he participated in Operation Decisive Endeavor.  SgtMaj Easton was then assigned to Headquarters and Support Company as the training and scheduling clerk.  After a short period working in the S-3, SgtMaj Easton reported back to Charlie Company in order to deploy with the 26th MEU as a Squad Leader.  During that deployment, SgtMaj Easton participated in Operations Allied Force, Shining Hope, Joint Guardian, and Avid Response.  The MEU returned in November 1999 and SgtMaj Easton received orders to Marine Corps Recruiter School.

In April 2000 SgtMaj Easton graduated in the top 10 percent from recruiter school and received orders to Recruiting Station Twin Cities (Minnesota).  SgtMaj Easton was a canvassing recruiter in central Minnesota, and in March of 2002, he assumed responsibilities as the Staff Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge of the Recruiting Sub-Station Fargo, ND.  In January of 2004, SgtMaj Easton reported to 1st Combat Engineer Battalion (CEB), Camp Pendleton, CA.

While assigned to Bravo Company, 1st CEB, SgtMaj Easton deployed to Iraq twice over the next 3 years.  He participated in Operation Iraqi Freedom II and 5-7 as a Platoon Guide, a Platoon Sergeant, and a Platoon Commander.  After returning in October 2004, SgtMaj Easton received orders to Engineer School at Camp Lejeune, NC.

SgtMaj Easton was both an instructor and the Company Gunnery Sergeant while at Engineer School.  In April 2008, SgtMaj Easton reported to 3rd Battalion, 9th Marines (3/9) as a company First Sergeant (1stSgt).  While with 3/9, SgtMaj Easton deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan.  In September 2011, SgtMaj Easton reported to Inspector-Instructor (I-I) Duty in Milwaukee, WI as the I-I 1stSgt for Fox Company 2nd Battalion 24th Marines.  During his time at Fox Company 2/24, SgtMaj Easton was selected to attend the Navy Senior Enlisted Academy in Newport, RI in 2012.  In June 2013, SgtMaj Easton assumed duties as the 4th Law Enforcement Battalion Inspector-Instructor Sergeant Major in St. Paul, MN. After leaving Minnesota SgtMaj Easton was appointed as the SgtMaj for Headquarters Battalion (HQBN), 2d Marine Division.  After his tour was complete at HQBN, SgtMaj Easton was slated for his current billet as Training and Education Command SgtMaj.

His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (Third award), Navy Commendation Medal(fourth award) with Combat V (second award), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, the Combat Action ribbon (two theaters), and various other unit service and campaign awards.
