Gunnery Sergeant Courtney J. Donald

   Gunnery Sergeant Courtney J. Donald enlisted in the Marine Corps on 17 June 2002, from Flint, MI.  He completed Recruit Training at MCRD San Diego, CA in September 2002.  Gunnery Sergeant Donald has served in a variety of units and billets throughout his career.

   Upon graduation from boot camp, Private First Class Donald reported to Marine Combat Training at Camp Pendleton, CA.  In November 2002, he reported to Field Radio Operator Course in 29 Palms, CA, where he attained the MOS of 0629/ Field Radio Operator.

    In January 2003, Private First Class Donald reported to his first duty station at 4th Marine Regiment, Okinawa, Japan.  During this period, he was assigned to the Headquarter Company and served as an Electronic Key Management System clerk, and Marine Corps Integrated Maintenance Management System clerk.  While serving with 4th Marine Regiment, Corporal Donald participated in exercises Cobra Gold and Balikatan. In 2005, Sergeant Donald attended Sergeants Course in Okinawa, Japan.

    In 2007, Sergeant Donald reported and deployed to Iraq with Combat Logistics Battalion 5, as an individual augmentee.  After completing his tour of duty as the Platoon Sergeant, for CLB-5s Communication Platoon, Sergeant Donald returned to 4th Marine Regiment in Okinawa, Japan.  In December 2008, he was reassigned to 4th Marines Regimental Schools, as a Radio Instructor.  Sergeant Donald was reassigned to III Marine Expeditionary Force G-6 as a communications clerk in 2008.

    In May 2008, Sergeant Donald attended recruiting school in San Diego California.  After graduation, Sergeant Donald was assigned to Recruiting Station Orange County, Recruiting Sub-Station (RSS) Lakewood.  In 2009, Staff Sergeant Donald obtained an Associate’s Degree in General Studies.  In 2010 Staff Sergeant Donald was appointed as the station Staff Non-Commissioned Officer In Charge.

    In January 2011, Staff Sergeant Donald reported to 12th Marine Regiment, Okinawa Japan, to serve as the units Radio Chief.  In 2012, Staff Sergeant Donald was reassigned to 3rd Battalion, 12th Marines. While serving as the Radio Chief, Staff Sergeant Donald participated in Dragon Fire Exercise 12-1, Korean Marine Exchange Program 12-7, and Exercise Ulchi Freedom Guardian 12-8.  In 2013, Staff Sergeant Donald attended Career Course in Okinawa, Japan.

    In January 2014, Staff Sergeant Donald reported to Communications Training Center 3 (CTC-3) as the Radio Chief Instructor.   In 2015, Gunnery Sergeant Donald attended the Advance Course in Okinawa, Japan.  In May 2016, Gunnery Sergeant Donald obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Psychology.

    In July of 2017, Gunnery Sergeant Donald was assigned to Marine Corps Information Operation Center (MCIOC) in Quantico, Virginia. While serving as a the Company First Sergeant for Military Information Support Company, Gunnery Sergeant Donald participated in the Combined Unit Exercise 18-1 and 18.2. Gunnery Sergeant Donald obtained a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology, in 2018.    

    In April 2019, Gunnery Sergeant Donald reported to Training & Education Command, Quantico, Virginia where he is currently serving as the Equal Opportunity Advisor.

    Gunnery Sergeant Donald’s decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (Gold star in lieu of 2nd award).
