Lieutenant Colonel Kerrissa A. Torres

Lieutenant Colonel Torres received her commission from the United States Naval Academy in May 2006. In her first assignment, she served as the Adjutant/Legal Officer for Marine Wing Support Squadron 272, Marine Wing Support Group 27, 2d Marine Aircraft Wing in Jacksonville, North Carolina. 

In April 2009, Lieutenant Colonel Torres deployed as an individual augment in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM assigned to Combined Security Transition Command-Afghanistan where she served as a Manpower and Personnel Officer in the Combined Joint Staff Branch for Personnel working closely with the Afghan National Army and the Afghanistan Ministry of Defense.  In May 2009, Lieutenant Colonel Torres graduated with a Master of Arts in Political Science from American Military University. 

In March 2011, Lieutenant Colonel Torres served as the Remain Behind Officer-In-Charge of Marine Wing Support Squadron 272 in support of aviation ground support functions aboard Marine Corps Air Station New River and within 2d Marine Aircraft Wing. In October 2011, she executed orders to Marine Aircraft Group 29, 2d Marine Aircraft Wing in Jacksonville, North Carolina where she served as the Adjutant/Legal Officer. During this tour, Lieutenant Colonel Torres also served as the Aviation Combat Element Adjutant for Exercise Bold Alligator 2012. 

In 2012, Lieutenant Colonel Torres was selected to serve as the Assistant Chief of Staff G-1 for 2d Marine Aircraft Wing (Forward)’s deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM 13.1-13.2. While forward deployed, Lieutenant Colonel Torres dual-hatted as the Staff Secretary for 2d Marine Aircraft Wing (Forward) and was responsible for protocol support and distinguished visitors’ trips in coordination with the Joint Visitors Bureau at II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward). 

Upon her return from deployment in 2014, Lieutenant Colonel Torres transferred to an academic billet as a Student, Manpower Systems Analysis, Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, California and graduated with a Master of Science Management in March 2016. Following, she was assigned as a Manpower Analyst at Total Force Structure Division, Combat Development and Integration. 

In June 2019, Lieutenant Colonel Torres transferred to Headquarters and Service Battalion, Headquarters Marine Corps, Henderson Hall serving as the Battalion Adjutant and Legal Officer. In June 2021, she reported to resident PME at Marine Corps Command and Staff College and graduated with a Master of Military Studies. 

In June 2022, she reported to Promotions Branch, Manpower Management, Manpower and Reserve Affairs. Lieutenant Colonel Torres was promoted to her current rank in July 2022. 

In June 2023, she was assigned as the Executive Officer, Headquarters Battalion, Training and Education Command. 

Other formal education includes The Basic School (2008), the Adjutant’s Course with honors (2009), Legal Officer Course with honors (2010), Manpower Officer Course (2014), Expeditionary Warfare School nonresident (2014), Command and Staff College nonresident (2018).

Personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with gold star in lieu of second award and the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two gold stars in lieu of third award.
