Sergeant Major Chester Wilson III

Sergeant Major Wilson, a native of Lane, South Carolina, graduated from recruit training at MCRD Parris Island, South Carolina October 1993. He was later designated a 3052, Packaging Specialist, and subsequently promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal at his MOS school in Marine Corps Logistics Base, Albany, Georgia.

From April 1994 to January 1997, Lance Corporal Wilson was stationed in Okinawa Japan. Here he served with 3d Supply Battalion, 3d Force Service Support Group where he worked in the Battalion S-3 training and also as the unit's Color Sergeant. While there, he was meritoriously promoted to Corporal in December of 1995 and to Sergeant in January 1997.

From May 1997 to December 1999, Sergeant Wilson was stationed aboard Cherry Point, North Carolina. Here he served with 2d Marine Air Wing, 2d Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 14 where he worked as the Noncommissioned
Officer-in-Charge, Supply Shipping Branch and Color Sergeant.

From January 2000 to January 2003, Sergeant Wilson completed his Special Duty assignment of recruiting at Recruiting Station Louisville Kentucky and Recruiting Substation Cincinnati, Ohio. Here he worked as a canvassing recruiter and SNCOIC and was also promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant March 2000.

From January 2003 to December 2008, Staff Sergeant Wilson was stationed aboard Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. Here he served with 2d Supply Battalion, 2d Maintenance Battalion, 2d Force Service Support Group, Combat Logistics Battalion-2, and Combat Logistics Battalion-8 where he deployed to Iraq from August 2007 to April 2008 in support of OIF6-8. At 2d Supply Battalion, he filled the billets of Noncommissioned Officer-in-Charge of Receiving and Shipping at the Packaging, Packing and Preservation section, Company Gunnery Sergeant for Headquarters and Service Company, Company Gunnery Sergeant for the Material Distribution Company, and Headquarters and Service Company First Sergeant. He also served as First Sergeant of Ordnance Maintenance Company at the 2d Maintenance Battalion. In February 2004, Staff Sergeant Wilson was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant. Gunnery Sergeant Wilson was subsequently frocked to First Sergeant on April 11, 2007.

From January 2009 to June 2013, First Sergeant Wilson was stationed aboard Marine Corps Base Kaneohe, HI. Here he served with Combat Logistics Battalion-3 and Headquarters and Service Battalion. He deployed to Afghanistan from September 2010 to April 2011 with Combat Logistics Battalion-3 in support of OEF1-0.

From June 2013 to August 2016, First Sergeant Wilson was stationed aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton. Here he served with the School of Infantry West, Infantry Training Battalion, Bravo Company and also VMM-364. It was here that he completed his associates and bachelor's degree in business and was selected to the rank of Sergeant Major on the 2014 selection Board.

From August 2016 to December 2018, Sergeant Major Wilson was served with the 12 Marine Corps District where he was helped stood up Recruiting Station Riverside. From December 2018 to present, Sergeant Major Wilson has been stationed in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania as the District Sergeant Major for the 4th Marine Corps District under Eastern Recruiting Region. In December 2020, SgtMaj Wilson reported in for duty at Headquarters Battalion, TECOM, aboard Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia. 

Sergeant Major Wilson's awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (gold star in lieu of third award), the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (gold star in lieu of third award), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (gold star in lieu of second award) and several Letters of Appreciation, Meritorious Masts, and Certificates of Commendation.
