Live Virtual Constructive Training Environment
Training and Education Command

MCTIS is the evolutionary replacement for the current Instrumented Tactical Engagement Simulation Systems (I-TESS) II platform, providing non-live fire training capabilities through a new suite of Marine Corps Tactical Instrumentation Systems (MCTIS) composed of a C2 network and sensor systems (individuals, vehicles, and weapon surrogates) and low velocity training projectiles (SESAMS) for individual and collective close quarters battle (CQB) techniques and procedures.

ANTICIPATED DEPLOYMENT TIMELINE:  2nd QTR FY24

  • The Joint Live Virtual Constructive (JLVC) Federation is the suite of simulations that support CCMD exercises.  However, the federation can support detailed training at the tactical level supporting small unit and team training.

ANTICIPATED DEPLOYMENT TIMEFRAME: 4th QTR FY24 - 2nd QTR FY25

MCVP is the common hardware platform (laptop) and an end-user access point to the LVC-TE.  MCVP will house applications at a local level, providing access to potential cloud solutions, to take advantage of concepts like edge computing.

ANTICIPATED DEPLOYMENT TIMEFRAME: 4th QTR FY24 - 4th QTR FY25

The Tactical Video Capture System (TVCS) provides video-based After-Action-Review (AAR) capabilities to support Marine Corps training at live-fire shoot houses, urban training environments, and infantry immersion trainers.  It utilizes a graphical user interface and configurable video-based alarms combining multiple cameras into a single view.  This view captures a Marine's urban warfare tactics and highlights strengths and weaknesses for use during both group and individual AAR evaluation sessions.

ANTICIPATED DEPLOYMENT TIMEFRAME: 4th QTR FY24

Constructive, service-level simulation supporting division and higher command and control exercises.  MTWS, through re-engineering (new code), become the MCS with increased performance, a greater level of interoperability, and more capability available to lower echelons of command.  MCS is the Marine Corps' contribution to the Joint Live Virtual Constructive (JLVC) Federation.

Deployable system supporting training for aviation and surface-to-surface fires, replaces the SAVT.  JVFT will expand to support the Warfighter Augmented Reality (WAR) capability and have Virtual Reality (VR) and Mixed Reality (XR) common hardware.  Doctrinally compliant, realistic, and tactically relevant Close Air Support (CAS) trainer for Type 1,2,3 Terminal Attack Controls.

ANTICIPATED DEPLOYMENT TIMEFRAME: 4th QTR FY24 - 4th QTR FY25

Small Unit Tactical Training System family of systems (FoS) provides combat marksmanship, crew gunnery training, and team/squad training.  The SUTTS is comprised of two systems: the Indoor Simulated Marksmanship Trainer (ISMT) and the Advanced Small Arms Lethality Trainer (ASALT).

  • Terrain development for multiple simulations and simulators to enable service and joint exercises with realistic environmental data and human behavior representation.  Datasets include: physical terrain 3D modeling services and human geography data collection and modeling (e.g., intelligence, operations, reconnaissance, and logistics warfighting).  Building 3D models for U.S., Coalition, Multi-national, and adversary operational capabilities.  Developing application program interface (API) "middleware" for modifying/unifying terrain databases in simulations and simulators.  Terrain and 3D models are developed by the JS J7 to support USMC and joint simulations.

  • A robust LVC-TE capability requires contractor support to employ a blended LVC environment.  The TCLS provides additional labor support beyond those already included in other elements.

The Ground Vehicle Training Systems family of systems (FoS) provides driver trainers and tactical vehicle simulators for common vehicles found in the GCE and LCE.  The GVTS is comprised of three systems: the Driver Trainer, the Tactical Vehicle Crew Simulator, and the Reconfigurable Platform Simulator.

  • An enterprise-managed, wide area network (WAN) supporting a distributed infrastructure with centrally managed resources and cybersecurity connecting geographically dispersed locations around the world.

A complex LVC-TE capability requires local area network (LAN) improvements to support the wide area network (WAN) connecting Marine Corps installations across the world.  The local network provides intra-base connectivity and connects to the wireless networks in the ranges and training areas.  The local network is the link to the transportation network (WAN) that provides global connectivity and requires upgrades and maintenance for connectivity and cybersecurity.

  • ADVTE is a customized, persistant, closed-loop, network enabling geographically-dispersed flight simulators to participate in training events (DC Aviation owned).

3D Warfighter Augmented Reality (WAR) uses a mixed reality (XR) training system for Marine Fire Support Teams (FiSTs).  WAR is being expanding the XR system to support Marines, training as a team, with virtual entities and battlefield effects, in a live environment to include virtual fire (e.g., maritime fires) and live maneuver against a virtual enemy.

ANTICIPATED DEPLOYMENT TIMEFRAME: 2nd QTR FY26 - UTC

Directly injects a denied, degraded, and disrupted electromagnetic spectrum operations (EMSO) training environment (e.g., jamming, direction finding, etc.)  EWGIR augments live training for the electro magnetic spectrum operations (EMSO).

The 5G (or greater) wireless network will connect the Marine Corps' ranges and training areas (RTA) allowing for complete interoperability of "live" simulations into a complete LVC environment.  The wireless capability will provide fixed and mobile systems to enhance training and increase range flexibility in support of operational requirements.
